The idea behind medallion quilts is to start with a block, then add borders.

The borders can be simple pieced blocks or applique, but work best with a mixture of simple pieces and more decorative applique blocks. The applique can be done on blocks, or long strips of solid fabric.

Testing the new blogger. from The Quilting Reader's Garden

Hmmm.  Now that Gretchen told me where to find the new post button, I'm trying it with this test post.As I was searching for neutrals of the beige kind, I found this square.  I'd like to make a medallion quilt out of it.  It is 12 1/2" square.  Suggests for the next round, please??
